San Patricio is an album by the Irish musical group, The Chieftains featuring Ry Cooder, released in 2010. It tells the story of the San Patricio battalion - a group of Irish immigrant volunteer soldiers who deserted the U.S. Army in 1846 to fight on the Mexican side in the Mexican-American War (1846–1848). The album features collaborations with Moya Brennan, Linda Ronstadt (in what remains her most recent commercial recording), Liam Neeson, Los Cenzontles, Los Tigres del Norte, Lila Downs, Van Dyke Parks, Carlos Núñez, and Chavela Vargas (among others).[1][2]
