Rowan Trollope

Rowan Trollope, is a Canadian born, Silicon Valley businessman, investor, software engineer and autodidact. He currently serves as Senior Vice President & General Manager at Cisco, where he runs four business entities covering the Internet of Things, Collaboration Technology, Analytics as well as Cisco’s developer platforms. Combined these businesses account for over $5 Billion USD in annual revenue.

Products produced in Trollope's teams include collaboration software, telepresence hardware devices, cloud infrastructure, and services that enable video collaboration, unified communications, customer contact centers and conferencing. This includes such solutions as Cisco Spark, Cisco TelePresence, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise and Cisco WebEx.

In his role leading the Collaboration Technology Group, between 2013-2015 Trollope pivoted the business towards the Cloud & SAAS based offers and released a slew of new Android powered desk systems as well as a new line of room systems. This resulted in a turnaround of the business from negative growth, to sustained double digit growth, making the Collaboration business the fastest growing large business at Cisco. During this same period, Trollope led the successful acquisitions of Collaborate.com, Assemblage, Tropo, Acano and most recently Jasper Wireless for $1.3B USD.

Prior to joining Cisco, Trollope was the Group President of the SMB and the Symantec.cloud Business Unit where he led Symantec's sales, marketing and product development teams in the small and midsized business (SMB) segment as well as Symantec.cloud, the company's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business. He was responsible for driving Symantec's SaaS strategy and expanding cloud-based delivery and customer support models across the Symantec technology portfolio with a focus on enabling the company to better serve the SMB customer segment.

Trollope was involved in the earliest days of the Internet and the computer software industry, getting a summer job at 16, where he was hunting the first computer viruses. Later, he was hired by Peter Norton Computing Inc. in Santa Monica, CA to work on the Norton products. During his time there, Trollope helped build the Norton business from a small software utilities company, to the global market leader in consumer security, and over $2 billion in annual revenue.

Trollope holds a variety of patents in operating systems and Internet security.

Trollope lives in San Francisco, where he is involved in the growing high-tech startup community. He serves as General Partner at a venture backed accelerator based in San Francisco focusing on Enterprise SaaS companies. Trollope co-founded PrintManager, a green-tech software company in Menlo Park.
