Rico Antonio Henry (born 8 July 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a left–back for Championship side Brentford. He is also an England U19 international.

Club career

Walsall

Henry joined Walsall aged 11 and made his first senior appearance for the club shortly after his 16th birthday in July 2013 in a pre season friendly against Leeds United.[2]

Henry was given his first professional contract by the Saddlers on 30 July 2014 shortly after his 17th Birthday when impressing at youth level.[3] He made his debut for the club on 9 December 2014 in the Football League Trophy area semi-finals as Walsall beat Tranmere on penalties after a 2–2 draw.[4] Henry then made his first league appearance on 13 December 2014 against Barnsley in a 3–1 victory.[5]

Henry started the 2015–16 season as a regular in the Walsall starting XI and won the Football League Young Player of the Month Award for September after an impressive string of performances in a table topping side.[6]

Henry scored his first senior goal for the club on 25 August 2015 in a 2–1 victory over table topping Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion.[7] His first league goal came five weeks later in a 1–0 away victory at Scunthorpe United.[8]

On 2 October 2015, Henry was offered and signed a new three-year contract with Walsall after a very impressive start to the season.[9]

After helping Walsall to third-place finish in League 1 during the 2015/16 season, Henry was named the left back in the League 1 Team of The Year for the 2015/16 season.[10] Henry was also one of three players nominated for the Football League Young Player of the Year award, alongside Lewis Cook then of Leeds United and Moussa Dembélé then of Fulham, however Henry missed out when the award was won by Lewis Cook.[11]

Brentford

On 31 August 2016, Henry signed for Championship side Brentford for an initial fee of £1.5m on a five-year contract, rising to £5 Million.[12]
