The album’s title Resurrection underscores Anastacia's recovery from breast cancer, her return to the "sprock" sound (hybrid of soul, pop and rock) the singer became known for in 2004 and is also the translation of her name in Greek. The recording sessions for the album began in early 2013. Soon after Anastacia was forced to cancel her European tour in support of 2012 album It's a Man's World due her second breast cancer diagnosis. The lead single "Stupid Little Things" was written by Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello, who co-wrote with Anastacia many of her successful singles from "Not That Kind" and "Freak of Nature". The song was met with an overwhelmingly positive reception from music critics including MTV's Brad Stern who included it in his 5 Must-Hear Pop Songs of the Week!.[7] The deluxe edition contains "Left Outside Alone, Part 2" – a new, different version of one of her most successful singles to date.[8][9]
