Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness. Their headquarters are in Leatherhead, Surrey.[1] They have care workers, based in Swindon, Essex, Southampton, Cumbria, Surrey, Manchester, Durham, and London.

Activities

The charity helps families by providing non-medical services, such as assistance with household chores,[2] sibling supervision,[2] and transportation to and from medical appointments,[3] aiming to maintain normal family life. It also offers bereavement support. [4]

History

The charity was founded in 1986 by Bernadette Cleary OBE when she helped a neighbour with palliative care for her child.[1]

Rainbow Trust Children's Charity re-branded on 1 October 2014

In 2014[5] and 2016[6] Rainbow Trust was featured on BBC Children in Need to help fund more Family Support Workers.

Rainbow Trust Children's Charity ranked 75th in 2015's The Sunday Times Top 100 Non-for-Profit Organisations to Work For, and 60th in 2016[7]
