Post hoc (sometimes written as post-hoc) (a shortened style of post hoc ergo propter hoc, ergo propter hoc) is a fallacy within which one event is alleged to be the reason for a later event just because it occurred earlier. additionally referred to as the fallacy of false cause, faulty cause, and argument from succession alone.
