Peggy Dern
Peggy Dern, (1896-1966), was an American author, born Erolie Pearl Gaddis (later Erolie Pearl Gaddis Dern), who wrote under both Peggy Dern and Peggy Gaddis[1] as well as Carolina Lee,[2] and Georgia Craig,[1] as well as Perry Lindsay, James Clayford, Gail Jordan and Joan Sherman.[3]
Life
Born in Gaddistown, Georgia, Dern was educated at Reinhardt College, and edited periodicals in Atlanta. She married John Sherman Dern, a wandering minstrel, in 1931.[3] She wrote approximately 3,000 words a day, six days a week for many years. She died in 1966 and was buried in Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tucker, Georgia.
