The Pelmadulla Divisional Secretariat is a divisional secretariat of Ratnapura District, of Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka.

Its area about 14,674 ha (146.74 km2, 36,260.25 acres) and it overspread 4.46% in Rathnapura district and also 0.22% in Sri Lanka.

History

P.E.P Deraniyagala was discovered ruins about homosepionbalangodesis in bulathwatta, because of that history of pelmadulla divisional secretariat was originated to pre-historic era. In the history, there were more numbers of huts installed in this area to rest for carters. That is reason for the name of this area. The temple on Denawaka and Kehelbaddala river basin was called Dronawakka Viharaya in the King I Wijayabahu period. The nampotha (the book written in Kandy period) mentioned this temple as a 203rd temple as a Denawaka viharaya. This temple is called Aramunapola viharaya at present. The monks who arrived from Arammanadesh in Myanmar was mattered to name this temple as an Aramunapola viharaya.

Pelmadulla divisional secretariat was established according to the sixth chapter of boundary determination act (no 22/1955) which was issued in 14-04-1955, as an assistant government agent division. The number of grama niladhari divisions is growing like this

Kuttapitiya mountain range

This zone is located in northern area of division. Kuttaptiya mountain (969 m) is the maximum high in the range. The Kirindifall is in this zone.

Kiribathgala mountain range

This zone is located in southern area of division.the Kiribathgala mountain (948m) is the maximum high in the range. The pulunella is in this zone.

Denawaka valley

Denawaka river flow in the valley between kuttaptiya & kiribathgala mountain ranges. This zone has the most population density in area.

Way valley

Way river flows in the southern boundary of the division at southeast & southwest area
