Pavitra Punia is an Indian actress who is currently the negative lead in the Star Plus mega-drama Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Pavitra started her career with the reality show SplitsVilla in the year 2009, and has done a number of reality shows and daily soaps ever since. Her Bollywood debut movie Siddhartha - Love Lust Peace^[1] is all set to release this year.

Early life

Pavitra was born in Uttar Pradesh but was raised in Delhi. Her father is in Delhi Police. Pavitra too wanted to be an IPS Officer and was training for that for 1.5 years, along with her graduation. She also did a Diploma in Hospitality & Aviation, and joined Kingfisher Airlines before getting into acting.

Personal life

Pavitra is engaged to businessman Sumit Maheshwari. They met through a common friend at Aamby Valley where Pavitra had gone for a Reiki session, and soon fell in love. They are most likely to tie the knot later this year.^[2]

Career

Pavitra started her career with the MTV reality show Splitsvilla 3 ^[3] which aired in 2009. She was one of the finalists in the show that took place in Phuket. Thereafter, she got her first lead role in the Star Plus show Love U Zindagi, opposite Siddharth Shukla. She was also a part of the LifeOK reality show Welcome - Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki. Destiny had other plans for her as she got a call for the Mukul Mishra directed movie - "Siddhartha - Love, Lust, Peace" which stars Mahesh Bhatt, Shivam Bhargava and Shazahn Padamsee. Pavitra has also been a part of a number of other shows including Ritz Jeele Yeh Pal, MTV Making The Cut 2, Hongey Judaa Na Hum,^[4] Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto^[5] and Darr Sabko Lagta Hai. She's currently portraying the role of the lead antagonist Niddhi Chhabra in the Star Plus show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.^[6]
