Paul Wong Koon-chung (born 31 March 1964) is a Hong Kong singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. He is best known as the lead guitarist of the rock band Beyond, but had also served as songwriter and occasional lead vocalist. In addition, Wong launched his solo career in 1999, collaborating with a variety of artists as a producer as well as a session musician (guitar or vocals).

Biography

During childhood Wong developed an interest in drawing, having an ambition of being a graphic designer. Thereafter he chose to study graphic design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Around the time of his university life, he made friends with Beyond, who invited him to join the band as a guitarist. After Wong graduated, he began to work for an advertising company. In the meantime, he contributed as a designer as well as a band member. Notable examples are the album Goodbye Ideal (1986)'s front cover, and clothing design for the Beyond LIVE (1991). As a singer, each album of the band at least contain one track sung by him from 1988 onward, particularly the numbers "The Midnight Vagrants" and "Big Land" recorded in 1988.

On 30 June 1993, the band's lead vocalist Wong Ka Kui died unfortunately due to the accident during a game show's rehearsal in Japan, Paul Wong and bassist Wong Ka Keung became the band's lead singers, continuing their recordings.

After Beyond's dissolution in 2005, Wong went on to work with his new band Hann and the Postman as a solo artist.

On 18 October 2006, Wong held his second solo concert in Hong Kong Coliseum, and released the sixth solo album on 17 November 2006.

In 1998 Wong started dating actress Athena Chu. They got married in 2012 and have a daughter.
