Pau Ribas Tossas (born March 2, 1987) is a Spanish professional basketball player who plays for FC Barcelona Lassa of the Liga ACB. Standing at 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m),[1] he primarily plays the shooting guard position. His father, Jordi Ribas, was also a professional basketball player.

Professional career

Ribas played with Prat, and then with the Spanish ACB League club Joventut Badalona, before joining the Spanish EuroLeague club Caja Laboral in 2009.[2] In July 2012, he signed a three-year deal with Valencia Basket.[3]

On July 23, 2015, he signed a three-year deal with FC Barcelona Lassa.[4] After winning the 2015 Supercopa, Ribas was named the Supercopa MVP. On October 26, 2016, Ribas had a season-ending injury and was out for the rest of the 2016–17 season after just three EuroLeague games.[5]

Spanish national team

Ribas was a member of the Spanish junior national teams. He played at the 2005 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, and at the 2006 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. He won the silver medal at the 2007 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. He has also been a member of the senior men's Spanish national basketball team.

With Spain's senior national team, he won the gold medal at the EuroBasket 2015.

Ribas is known for his frequent take on political stances.[6] He has also written articles for the Catalan newspaper Ara,[7] known for its Catalan nationalist and independentist editorial policy.[8][9]
