Pallikunnu Church

Pallikkunnu Church is a famous pilgrim centre of North Kerala. This is a Latin Catholic church in the name of 'Our Lady of Lourdes'. The festival is on February 2 to 18. Main days are 10th and 11th.

Pallikkunnu Church was built by a French priest Fr. Jefreno in 1908. Approximate distance to the church from Kalpetta is 14 kilometers. Devotees believe that abundant blessings are showered by mother mary and no intention goes unanswered. Lunch of rice and curry is served free of cost during the annual feast and it is a custom to collect and remove the leaves/plates left over after eating by others. Stone carrying by head, Shayanapradakshinam and crown carrying by hand are also the custom in Pallikkunnu Church. The festival in February 2008 marked its 100th year celebration. In every year's festival more than 3 lakh people visits Pallikkunnu. The Church is known as "LOURDH MATHA SHRINE PALLIKKUNNU."

Driving direction when coming from Calicut

From Calicut, take Wayanad road, cross Vythiri, Chundale and Kalpetta to reach Kambalakkad. Take left from here and straight on to the church.
