Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup is a Canadian stock car racing series. Founded in 2007 as the Ontario Sportsman Series, it is the unofficial successor to the CASCAR Sportsman Series, after NASCAR purchased CASCAR it was announced that there would be no equivalent of the former CASCAR Sportsman Series in 2007. The series is based on the 2005 CASCAR Sportsman series rulebook omitting the 2006 additions (HANS device, firesuits for ‘over the wall’ crews, etc.). The series first major sponsor in 2007 was Castrol Canada. In January 2009 Lucas Oil came on board as the title sponsor and the series was renamed The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup. Originally events featured a twin 50 lap format which changed in 2011 to the 100 lap feature still used today.
