Northern University was established at Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan by the EDR Trust and was privileged by Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is a private sector university approved under ordinance number XLVIII of 2002. The inauguration of the university was done by the President of Northern University General Sawar Khan. Its main campus is located at Wattar Walai Ziarat, Kaka Sahib Road, Nowshera[1]

Objective

The plan, still amorphous as it would seem, involves the deepest, most authentic feelings of simply "doing good" for humanity. The altruism is so evident from the fact that the establishment and execution of a noble cause overshadows all prior notions of well being and doing of the unit involved herein. An independently undertaken venture, well thought of and nurtured, by an organization which believes that it can bring about a positive change, requires an undying and grateful support of all those people who are a part of and hence will be subjected to this cogent difference which is to be brought about very soon. Against all odds, what will take place is going to be like a laborious journey to a land of eternal amelioration.[2]

Academic programs

Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology

The university offers four year undergraduate and two year post graduate programs in the fields of Engineering and Information Technology. The university offers undergraduate programs in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology and Electronics and Postgraduate degrees in the field of Electronics, Science and Information Technology.

Faculty of Administrative Sciences

Northern University offers four-year undergraduate and two-year graduate programs in Business Administration with focus in core strategies in management and international business.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

The university offers four year undergraduate programs in Textile and Fashion Designing and Home Economics, and one year bachelor's degree in B.Ed. and postgraduate degrees in Economics, Education, English, Urdu and Journalism.

Faculty of Sciences

The university is offering postgraduate degree in Mathematics, and Environmental Science and MPhil degree in Environmental Science.

Campuses

The university is based in its two campuses, at Nowshera. The city campus is centrally located at Hakimabad and is easily accessible through public transport. Main campus is located at Wattar Walai Ziarat Kaka Sahib Road, Nowshera. The foundation stone for the main block was laid by Mr. Khalil Ur Rehman, Governor NWFP in April 2005.[3]
