Eniola Akinbo (born December 9, 1985, in Lagos[1]), professionally known by her stage name Niyola, is a Nigerian recording artist, singer, songwriter and performer.

Life and career

Early life

Eniola Akinbo was born in Lagos in 1985. She was the youngest of ten children. She sang in church with her siblings and she was inspired when she attended a Funmi Adams concert.[2]

Niyola started her sojourn into music began in 2000, when she emerged runner up at the Amen Starlet Competition. In 2005, Niyola began her professional music career and was briefly affiliated with eLDee’s Trybe’s Records, following that she put pen to paper on a production deal with Freestyle’s Make Sum Noise Entertainment. Niyola’s first three singles; Me n U (In da club), No more and Dem say were released under this imprint.[3]

Music career and breakthrough single

Niyola was signed to Empire Mates Entertainment in 2012 as the first lady in the house.[4]

"Toh Bad"

On 22 May 2013 Niyola released her first single, "Toh Bad", under the Empire Mates Entertainment label.[5]
