Mason appeared in every game as a freshman, ranking second on the team in steals and assists as a true freshman. He averaged 9.8 points per game which ranked 4th on the team. He registered 17 games where he scored at least 10 points. Including his collegiate debut where he scored 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal and one assist.

Personal

On March 1, 2016, Mason along with teammates Kevin Dorsey and Dupree Mcbrayer were suspended from the team for violating teams rules. They were further suspended after the accidental release of a sex tape on Dorsey's social media accounts. All three players were suspended for the remainder of the season with Dorsey later transferring from Minnesota.[1]
