Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics (popularly known as NM College) is a prestigious college for commercial studies and economics affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It is situated in JVPD scheme, Vile Parle West and was established in 1964 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), a charitable trust that runs a number of academic institutions. The college is known for its difficult level of examinations, stringent rules for discipline and unfavourable system followed for attendance. It is amongst the leading commerce colleges in India and the best college for commercial studies in Mumbai.

Curriculum

These two-year courses can be started after the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.) examinations.It offers the Commerce as well as the Vocational course. At the end the student appears for the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations. After that there is the opportunity to join the first year of the B.Com.

The college has recently diversified into various extracurricular activities. Its students are actively involved in the various College Festivals of other Mumbai Colleges, such as St. Xavier's "Malhar", Sydenham's "Brouhaha" and IIT-B's "Mood Indigo". NM College have their own cultural and management festivals Umang and Drishti held every year. The college is also associated with Rotary International and worldwide social youth organisation: Rotaract. It has chartered its own, Rotaract Club of N.M. College engages in various social and self-development activities.

The current in charge principal of the college is Mr. Parag ajagaonkar.

Library

The college has a library with a capacity of almost 250 students. The college keeps the library open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.[1]

Festivals

College has around 20 societies and clubs where students can join in according to their interests.

Umang, Drishti and Insight are the three festivals held annually by the college. Umang is NM College's cultural festival, Drishti is NM's Management festival and Insight is the NM's national level finance and economics festival. Students work enthusiastically to make the festivals a success. The main attractions of Umang are dance, drama, fashion show, of Drishti are pronite, various management events and of Insight are their highly intellectual events, Conclaves and summits.
