Naranjo de Alajuela

Naranjo is the capital city of the canton of Naranjo in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. It is also the name of the distrito (district) that includes the city. The district of Naranjo covers an area of 25.75 km²,[1] and has a population of 19,760.[2]

The city lies at an elevation of 1,043 meters above sea level[1] in the Central Valley (Valle Central), 31 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital city of Alajuela, and 47 kilometers from the national capital city of San Jose. It is also in close proximity to Ciudad Quesada, the Northern Lowlands, Monteverde, Guanacaste, and Arenal.[3]
