Nangavalli is a panchayat town in Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Geography

Nangavalli is located at 11°45′N 77°53′E / 11.75°N 77.88°E / 11.75; 77.88.[1] It has an average elevation of 385 metres (1263 feet). Nangavalli is famous for its Temple "Sri lakshmi Narashimha Swamy" an Avathar of lord Vishnu

More over Nangavalli has lots of Handlooms. The Silk Sarees manufactured here are sold leading Textile Stores in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The main occupation in Nangavalli is Weaving.The Silk sarees made from Nangavalli and the around area is very famous throughout India.Only one Government School.The festival of the Narashimha Swamy Thirukovil will be celebrated by the nearby all the villages in and around Nangavalli.Dhroupathi amman festival is also celebrated in the month of April–May every year.In this festival a live demo of Mahabharatha's fight will be organised. This is the only place where the event conducted lively in Tamil Nadu.From Nangavalli water flows by gravity(without pump) to Salem (Nangavalli to Salem -36 km).This system was constructed and Inaugurated by British people before independence.

Nangavalli has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 49%.
