Moriarty is a Sherlock Holmes novel written by author Anthony Horowitz, and was published on the 23 October 2014. It is the sequel to The House of Silk.[1] The author has stated via Twitter that Moriarty will take place in 1891, after the events of Doyle's "The Final Problem", and that Sherlock Holmes will only appear at the end of the novel. Moreover, those detectives that Sherlock has worked with in previous cases, such as Athelney Jones and Lestrade, will be present.[2][3] The novel follows Frederick Chase and Athelney Jones as they try to prevent a new criminal mastermind taking over the streets of London after Moriarty's demise.[4]
