Monroe-Woodbury High School is located in Central Valley, New York, part of the town and village of Woodbury in Orange County. It educates all students in grades 9-12 in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District.[3] The four levels are built into a hill overlooking Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.

Bomb Threat

On April 29, 2015 a note was found written on the bathroom wall saying, "There is a bomb here." The High School was first put on lockdown, then later evacuated to the neighboring Monroe-Woodbury Middle School. The Middle School was then put on lockdown for 20 minutes, and then continued with the normal school day. Meanwhile, the High School students were put in the gym and auditorium, while the High School was searched by K-9 units. It took 2 hours for the units to thoroughly search the school, and no bomb was found. The next day, in the Middle School, a second bomb threat was found in the bathroom. The students were then evacuated to the High School and were dismissed at the High School's normal dismissal time, the high school students were held at school for an extra hour. No bombs were found.[4]

Report card

Monroe-Woodbury has shown a general increase in the percent of its students achieving higher scores on Regents exams from the 2005-2006 school year to the 2007-2008 school year, in both sciences and maths, as well as languages. Consequently, 86% of graduates in 2006 received a Regents diploma, as compared to 89% in 2008. As well, a low 1% of would-be graduates dropped out in 2008.[5]

Indeed, the New York State District Report Card Accountability and Overview Report 2007 – 08 showed similar results, that while there are exceptions, the district was generally at or above academic standards.[6]

Famous Alumni

Andy Grammer made mainstream success with his hit "Keep Your Head Up", then again in the year 2015 when he released the hit song "Honey I'm Good". Shortly after he got the gig to play alongside Flo Rida, Walk the Moon, Charlie XCX and more at the festival, he winded up donating K-Fest tickets to all graduating Seniors of 2015.[7]
