Milutin R. Dostanić (Serbian Cyrillic: Милутин Р. Достанић; February 3, 1958 – January 14, 2014) was a Serbian mathematician. He focused his scientific interest on mathematical analysis, namely functional analysis and operator theory.

Biography

He was born in the village of Turica, near Guča, on February 3, 1958.

He graduated at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Science and Mathematics in 1980. He received his PhD with Branislav Mirković in 1984,[1] defending PhD thesis he had prepared at Lomonosov Moscow State University Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, under the advisement of Anatolii Gordeevich Kostyuchenko.[2]

He became assistant professor at University of Belgrade Faculty of Mathematics in 1994, associate professor in 1999 and obtained full professorship in 2003.[3]

He left behind voluminous scientific work. He published over 70 papers, many of them in the most cited scientific periodicals.

He died on January 14, 2014 in Belgrade.[4]
