Michael William "Mikey" Day (born March 20, 1980) is an American actor, comedian, writer, director, and voice actor.

Life and career

Day was born in Orange County, California. He graduated from El Modena High School in Orange, California as an honors student in 1998, where he was involved in the drama program. During high school, he portrayed a victim in a staged automobile accident to give his classmates a sense of the dangers of intoxicated driving.

In 2002, Day graduated from UCLA with a degree in theatre. Subsequently, he became a member of The Groundlings,[1] a Los Angeles-based improv and sketch comedy troupe. He performed at the ImprovOlympic in Hollywood for three months.

Day made a guest appearance on The WB's series Angel in 2004. He had appeared on MTV's reality series Faking the Video. He also appeared on an episode of the improv comedy series World Cup Comedy.

He is a cast member on MTV's improv comedy series Wild 'N Out.[2] Day appeared in a sketch comedy series called The Underground on Showtime. He is also known for his role as Evan Ferguson in the YouTube video series David Blaine Street Magic: YouTube Edition.

Day starred in NBC's primetime comedy Kath & Kim.[3]

Also, Day hosted a recurring segment called "JMZ" on The Jay Leno Show.[4]

Day is also a writer and voice actor for Robot Chicken.

Maya & Marty

Beginning in May 2016, Day appeared as a cast member on the weekly NBC variety show, Maya & Marty (alongside Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, and Kenan Thompson). Day also served as one of the show's co-head writers.[5]

Saturday Night Live

Currently, Day is a featured cast member on the sketch comedy/variety series Saturday Night Live.[9][10]

Day began appearing as a featured player on the October 1, 2016 episode of SNL. His debut appearance was as an unattractive man named Matt Shatt, whose marriage to a very attractive woman (played by host Margot Robbie) raised questions from a news team.[11]

On October 22, 2016, Day played one of two dancing skeletons in the popular "Haunted Elevator (ft. David S. Pumpkins)" sketch.[12] This sketch, starring Tom Hanks, currently has 5.6 million views on Youtube.[13]
