Mihira Sirithilaka, (born in May 28, 1980 as මිහිර සිරිතිලක [Sinhala]) is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema.[1] Highly versatile actor from drama to comedy in stage dramas, teledramas and cinema, Sirithilaka is an actor, and a screenplay writer in profession.[2]

Early career

His basement to acting career came during Street theatres conducted by Gamini Haththotuwegama, which was also the birth place for many renowned actors such as Kumara Thirimadura, Sarath Kothalawala, Chinthaka Peiris and Janaka Ranasinghe.

Theater work

Sirithilaka is a regular feature in many stage dramas since his beginning to the career. Some of his popular stage dramas include Nari Burathi,[3] Balloth Ekka Ba, and Deyyoth Danne Nehe.[4] His own direction and screenplay writing came through the drama Ko Kukko.[5]

Television acting

Sirithilaka was also played many costarring works in the television as well. Some of his popular television dramas are Pini Wessak,[6] Monara Thenna, Sonduru Gimhanaya, Anguru Siththam, Mayagira, Wahi Lihini, Raja Kaduwa, On Ataka Nataka, Saheli, Sabba Sakala Manaa, Medi Sina, etc.

Sirithilaka accompany with Thirimadura hosted the program Maarai Hirai, which was telecasted by TV Derana.[7]

Television joke

Sirithilaka was caught by a teledrama show Mega Bite, which was telecasted by Hiru TV on 2013, when the program crew had made death threats to him while making him kneel down on the street and had telephoned his wife to demand ransom. He filed a case for the program and on the same day, Kochchikade police has handed in a B report to the Court regarding the incident. The suspects were ordered to be sent to remand prison until the 10th September and channel took the whole responsibility by apologizing from his family.[8][9]

Filmography

Sirithilaka started his film career with Hiri Poda Wassa back in 2006, directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya. After that, he played many comedy roles in many occasions in cinema, but most are minor roles. One of his major role came through the character Hawadiya of Sinhawalokanaya, which was a sport film.
