Michael "Mike" Dixon Jr. (born December 1, 1990) is an American Georgian professional basketball player for AEK Athens of the Greek League. He is a 1.86 m (6 ft 1 in) tall guard. After three years at Missouri College, and one year at the University of Memphis, Dixon entered the 2014 NBA draft but was not selected in the draft's two rounds.

High school career

Dixon played high school basketball at Lee's Summit, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was ranked as the nation’s 136th overall prospect and No. 22 point guard by Rivals.com[1]

College career

University of Missouri

Dixon played college basketball at the University of Missouri, with the Missouri Tigers, from 2009 to 2012 under coach Mike Anderson.He played in all 34 games as a true freshman, averaging 7.5 points and 1.6 assists, 1.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. He shot .470 percent from the floor and .355 percent from three-point range and Led the club in free throw shooting at .857 percent. During his second Tiger campaign, he started 17 games averaging a career-high 10.3 points per game, along with 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals. Dixon, was also ranked in the Top 10 of the Big 12 in assists, steals, free throw percentage and assist/turnover ratio. Under the coach Frank Haith, he was one of the country's most explosive guards and was arguably college basketball's most valuable sixth man in 2011-12, averaging 13.5 points and 3.3 assists in 35 games (all off the bench).

University of Memphis

In 2013, Dixon was transferred at the University of Memphis and played his senior year with Memphis Tigers.[2][3] Dixon saw action in all 34 games and made four starts. He was the team's second-leading scorer (11.8 ppg) and squad's leader in three-point field goal percentage (38.6) and free throw percentage (84.4). He Handed out 81 assists (fourth on team) and had 43 steals and also averaged 2.2 rebounds.

Professional career

After going undrafted in the 2014 NBA draft, Dixon joined Basket Barcellona on a 2-week tryout.[4] He left the club without signing a contract.[5] Dixon began his pro career in the Lithuanian Basketball League with Dzūkija Alytus in 2014. He left the team on November and joined Pieno žvaigždės Pasvalys for the rest of the season.[6]

On June 22, 2015, Dixon moved to the Czech club ČEZ Nymburk. With the club, he won the Czech League.[7] He went on to average 14.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 31 games for Nymburk in the VTB League.

On June 21, 2016 Dixon moved to AEK Athens of the Greek League where he signed a one-year contract with a prospect of renewal for another year.[8]

Georgian national team

Dixon has citizenship with Georgia,[9] in order to play with the senior men's Georgian national basketball team. He was selected to be in the default squad for the EuroBasket 2017 qualification.
