Mercedes "Mercy" Schlapp, born Mercedes Viana, is a Cuban-American political commentator and columnist. Schlapp is a Fox News contributor and a columnist for several publications including U.S. News & World Report and The Washington Times.[2][3][4][5] Schapp was the cofounder of Cove Strategies, a government and public affairs firm based in Alexandria, Virginia and the former Director of Specialty Media for President George W. Bush.[6]

Political campaigns

Schlapp worked on local and national political campaigns during the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns for George W. Bush.[6]

Personal life

A first-generation Cuban-American raised in Florida, Schlapp is married to Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union.[7] Matt and Mercy have five daughters[8] and are parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
