Melissa Hauschildt (née Rollison, born 13 April 1983 in Adelaide) is an Australian professional triathlete and former middle distance runner, who specialised in steeplechase. She is the winner of the 2011 and 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championship as well as the 2013 ITU Long Distance Triathlon champion.[1][2]

Athletic career

Early in Hauschildt's career she won a gold medal in the 3000m steeplechase at the 2001 Goodwill Games. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games, competing in the Steeplechase, she gave world champion Dorcus Inzikuru a run for her money before settling for the silver medal. This run increased her profile on the world stage. A week after the Commonwealth Games, she helped Australia to a team bronze medal in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

After a series of injuries, Hauschildt switched to triathlon.[3] At the 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Championship she took her first world title, winning by six minutes over Karin Thürig. After a 4th-place finish at the 2012 Ironman 70.3 Championship race she would again win the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 2013, using a race best run split to win.[2][4]
