Melanie Margalis (born December 30, 1991) is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in backstroke, freestyle and individual medley events. Internationally, Melanie won gold in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay as a member of the preliminary team and bronze in the 200-meter individual medley at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia. Further, she won the gold medal with the U.S. women's 4x200 freestyle relay team in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[1] Collegiately, she helped the Georgia Bulldogs swimming and diving women's team at the University of Georgia win the NCAA Division I women's team title in 2013 and again in 2014.[2]
