Mayfield School is located on Pedley road in Redbridge, Greater London, despite its Dagenham address. The current headteacher is Andy Rehling. Mayfield includes a Sixth Form Block and a Field and a new science block built in 2008.

There are 12 forms in year 7 and 8 and 10 forms in year 9, 10 and 11. There are around 30 pupils in each class. There are 8 form groups for the 6th form students, with 20 students or less in each form.

Facilities include school libraries, specialist Drama, Mathematics, Music and IT rooms, MFL department, Art rooms, Science Laboratories, and humanities such as; business, geography, history and R.S.

Singer Jessica Ellen Cornish, known as Jessie J, attended the school from 1999 until 2004. Comments she later made about gang-related gun and knife crime and racial attacks at the school were described by Rehling as "just wrong"; he said that he and other staff were unaware of any such incidents.[1]
