Martine Sarah Croxall (born 1969, Hinckley, Leicestershire) is a British journalist and television news presenter working for the BBC. Croxall is currently one of the main presenters on the BBC News Channel.
Education
Croxall attended the independent Bablake School in Coventry.[1] She then studied Geography at the University of Leeds, gaining her BA in 1990, following this with a year out in Africa.[2]
Career
She joined the BBC with work experience at BBC Radio Leicester. Following this, Croxall began work at East Midlands Today, the BBC regional news programme for that region. Since that she has also worked at Newsroom South East (1997) and UK Today, a filler programme on the digital version of BBC One in England which was discontinued in 2002 when regional services were established on digital platforms.[3]
She is currently a presenter on the domestic BBC News Channel between 18:30 and midnight, Friday-Sunday, and occasionally presents on the international channel BBC World News. On 30 October, she began presenting the World News Today simulcast on both channels. Until 2011, Croxall was one of the main presenters of the overnight 01:00 –05:00 time slot simulcast on both channels.
On 13 November 2015, she was the main presenter on the November 2015 Paris attacks for the BBC, having only been expecting to present World News Today and The Papers. This involved reporting live as events unfolded, interviewing eyewitnesses and alerting the public on what to do as news came in. She did this for over two hours. Emmy Award winning former CBS Network News correspondent David Henderson wrote of Martine's handling of the Paris attacks coverage "...a no-nonsense BBC World News presenter brought level-headed clarity to the attacks and horror in Paris with an understated, professional style..."[4]
