Marithé et François Girbaud

Marithé et François Girbaud, sometimes styled Marithé+François Girbaud, was an international clothing company based in France. It was founded in 1964 by François Girbaud and Marithé Bachellerie. These French stylists are well-known as the inventors of stonewash, baggy jeans and more.[1][2][3]

In June 2012 it was reported that Girbaud had filed for bankruptcy and that its websites were down.[4]

On 6 November 2013, it was announced that five stores in Paris, one in Lyon, and two in Belgium would be closed as part of a compulsory liquidation.[5]

In 2014 two pop-up shops, open for less than two months, sold Girbaud products in the Hôtel de Villeroy in Paris.[6]

In 2015, they created a new brand : Mad Lane.[7][8]
