Mantalongon, Cebu

Mantalongon, is one of the 33 barangays in the municipality of Dalaguete, Cebu. It is 2½ hours of travel by bus from Cebu City.

The Summer Capital of Cebu province

It is called the Summer Capital of Cebu, because of its cold temperature ranging between 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) in November to middle of January. Due to its cold temperatures the main livelihood of the people in Mantalongon is farming, growing different kinds of vegetables.

The vegetable basket of Cebu

It is called the Vegetable Basket of Cebu because it is one of the major vegetable supplier to the other towns in Cebu province. Everyday, tons of vegetables are delivered to Carbon Market which is the biggest public market in Cebu City.

Barangay profile

As of 2015, Mantalongon had a population of 6,517. The area comprises 917 hectares (2,270 acres). The barangay borders to Ablayan in the north, Tabon and Langkas in the south, Dumalan and Obo in the east and the Badian municipality in the west.[1]

The Famous Peak

Mount Labalasan (also known as Osmeña Peak) is located in Patung, Badian 9°48′48″N 123°26′42″E / 9.81333°N 123.44500°E / 9.81333; 123.44500. The peak is approximately 1,013 metres (3,325 ft) above sea level making it the highest peak in the island of Cebu.

Mount Labalasan is part of the Patung, Badian range, which is unique from other mountain ranges in the Philippines because of its multiple jagged hills grouped together that overlook and stretch as far as the Badian shorelines. The highest of these hills is the Osmeña Peak. There are four trails going there: one from Mantalongon, and the rest from Badian that ends in Kawasan Falls and Liong. The easiest trek route is from Mantalongon Market to the foot of the peak.
