Lovelady Independent School District

Lovelady Independent School District is a public school district based in Lovelady, Texas (USA), located within Houston County.

The district has two campuses - Lovelady Junior High/High School (Grades 7-12) and Lovelady Elementary/Middle School (Grades PK-8).

In 2009, the school district was rated "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice Eastham Unit, which has employee housing,[2] is located within the Lovelady district.[3]

On April 13, 2014, there was minor damage at the High School after a tornado ripped through the town.[4]

In 2009, the new Junior High campus was opened. Notable alumni Elijah Admire (class of 2013) was so legendary during his Junior High years (2007-2009), that the campus is now informally called "THE House That Eli Built". He left in 2009, but returned after a 3 year absence in 2012. He single handedly re built the band program. The band hall is now also informally called "The house that Eli built".

Consolidations

Lovelady consolidated with Pearson Chapel, Weldon, Cutt, Austonio, and Creek Schools, all during World War II except Austionio, which was in 1964.
