Louise Golbey

Louise Golbey is a British singer, songwriter and musician. Born in London, Golbey grew up in a musical family, her grandfather played classical violin, her uncle plays guitar, her mother sings and her father plays various instruments. Brought up in Bournemouth, Louise moved back to her home city after University to pursue her own career as a musician.^[1]

She has played at legendary London venues including Ronnie Scotts, The London Hippodrome, The Jazz Café and will be headlining PizzaExpress Jazz Club in April 2016. She has performed outside of the UK in France (Musique Cordiale Festival, Provence) and Germany (Cascadas Bar in Hamburg for Piste Magazine) and at Glastonbury Festival via BBC Introducing .,^[2]Isle of Wight Festival.,^[3] Chris Evans (presenter) / Children In Need 's CarFest, Jamie Oliver and Alex James (musician) 's The Big Feastival Taste Festivals, London Jazz Festival and the Maida Vale Weekender for The BBC at Maida Vale Studios.^[4]

She has worked on tracks with Example and Newham Generals (signed to Dizzie Rascal ’s Dirtee Stank label) and has supported and shared the stage with a number of acclaimed artists over the course of her career including Jessie J, Paloma Faith, Katy B, Mikill Pane, Ryan Keen. Mr Hudson, Lianne La Havas, Omar, Roy Ayers, Anthony David, Alexander O'Neal, Mitch Winehouse in aid of The Amy Winehouse Foundation) and Ed Sheeran (who also appears in one of Louise’s music videos and even mentions her in his ‘thank yous’ on his first album + (Ed Sheeran album).

One of her biggest gigs to date was opening for the legendary George Benson at Kenwood House Picnic Concert in front of 6,000 people. In addition, she also supported The Stylistics on their sold out UK tour^[5][6] which included venues such as Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, The Brighton Centre and Indig02 (in London’s 02 Arena). She opened for Roberta Flack at The Indig02 and most recently was asked to support En Vogue there on March 1, 2016.

Her tracks have been played on various radio stations across the UK and beyond including BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio London, Jazz FM (UK), Mi-Soul and Capital XTRA by DJ's such as Trevor Nelson, Ras Kwame, Ronnie Herel and Robert Elms (she was a guest on his show in 2015) and she has appeared several times on London Live (TV channel) for an interview and live performance.

She has worked with a wealth of different producers including Drew Horley, Aamir Yaqub, 8Trak, Cato Hoeben, Gareth Ashton and she features on Nick Doe's soulful house version of 'He Loves Me', a Jill Scott cover released on Restless Soul which reached No. 1 in the Soulful House Charts,^[7]

Her first full studio album - Novel was released in 2015. Mixed and mastered by Mercury Prize nominee producer Drew 'Beats' Horley (Estelle (musician), De La Soul, Ty (rapper), Nate James) and includes special guests Omar, Morris Pleasure, (Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Roberta Flack) recorded at Metropolis Studios and a track produced by Aamir Yaqub (Grammy winner for Rihanna's Unapologetic album). Novel has received rave reviews ^[8] and has been championed by DJ's such as MistaJam on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Chris Philips on Jazz FM (UK), Ronnie Herel on Mi- Soul ^[9] and TV and Radio presenter Toby Anstis.

Louise is also affiliated with global entertainment agency Chokolate who represent dancer / choreographer / artist Chris Grant and choreographer / Creative Director Frank Gatson, Jr. (Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Usher (singer), Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Rowland, Destiny's Child, En Vogue).

Other career info: Her music video 'How It Is' (which she also recorded in French) was nominated in the UK Music Video Awards. The track is also featured on Soul Lounge 11 (Dome Records) compilation album this year too. And her track ‘No Pretence’ features on the soundtrack of the feature film Hard Time Bus (which won best film in The Hollywood Black Film Festival). She was a finalist in The Indy Music Awards 2008, and used to sing with folk group Broadcast 2000. Her tracks are played in Caffè Nero and Gap Inc.. Many producers have remixed Louise's tracks - most recently 'Little Bird' from her album was remixed by Blackjack Productions (Circle Of Funk) and released on Slapped Up Soul Records.
