List of national parks of Spain and their relationship to sites of community importance

The National Parks of Spain are set out in the following table in alphabetical order. They are defined under Spanish Law 41/1997, which established a new model of shared management of the national parks between the National and the Regional Governments.

Links are to the corresponding web site of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment of Spain, and are in Spanish.[1]

  • Cuenca del río Lozoya y Sierra Norte (ES3110002),[10] in the easternmost part of the park area in Madrid.
  • Lugar de importancia comunitario de Sierra de Guadarrama (ES4160109).[11] It encompasses the park area in Segovia.

Picos de Europa Asturias, León, Cantabria Asturias, Castile-Leon, Cantabria 1918 Picos de Europa National Park is split among the following sites of community importance:
  • Picos de Europa (Asturias) site of community importance (ES1200001).[17] It encompasses the park territory in Asturias.
  • Liébana site of community importance, in Cantabria (ES1300001).[18] It encompasses the park area in Cantabria.
  • Picos de Europa site of community importance, in the province of León. (ES0000003).[19] It encompasses almost the whole park area in León.
  • Picos de Europa en Castilla y León site of community importance (ES4130003).[20] It encompasses a small part of the park territory in León, next to Cantabria.
