List of credit unions in the United States

This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it.

This is a list of credit unions in the United States, in which only notable credit unions and related organizations are included. A credit union is a member-owned financial cooperative, democratically controlled by its members, and operated for the purpose of promoting thrift, providing credit at competitive rates, and providing other financial services to its members.[1] Credit unions in the United States may either be chartered by the federal government[2] or a state government.[3] The National Credit Union Administration is the U.S. independent federal agency that supervises and charters federal credit unions. As of year-end 2015, in the United States, there were 6,143 credit unions[4] with 103.992 million members comprising 45.4 percent of the economically active population.[5]
