Lena (TV Show)

In 1980 Lena Zavaroni return to the BBC in her own TV show which was now called Lena it followed the same format as her 1979 show Lena Zavaroni and Music in which there was Music, comedy and variety from Lena Zavaroni and her guests.

Season 1, Episode 1

Lena was broadcast on 21 May 1980 [1]

During the opening credits Toastmaster Bryn Williams introduces Lena Zavaroni.

Lena opened the show singing "Happy Together", she then sings "Together we are beautiful" Rowan Atkinson then comes on dressed as a Concert Pianist and Mimes playing a piano.

Lena then sings "Elegance" & dances with her dancers during the dance interlude before ending the song. Lena then sings "Jump Down Jimmy" Lena then introduces Harpist Corky Hale and they perform the song "Desperado" Corky Hale then performs a harp solo. Lena then thanks her guests and closes the show with the song "Singing Splish Splash".

Lena opened the show singing "I Wanna Be There On The Opening Night", she then sings "Daydream Believer" Robert White then sings the song "Younger Than Springtime (South Pacific)".

Lena and her dance troupe then perform a song and dance routine (Girl Talk), Lena then sings "longer" after which she introduces Paul Daniels he performs some close up magic using coins, he then performs a sword though the throat illusion with Lena. Lena and her dance troupe then end the show performing a song and dance routine (Rescue Me).

Lena opened the show singing "Tin Pan Alley" & "I Don't Want To Walk Without You", she then introduces Bernie Winters whom performs a short comedy routine and then he introduces Schnorbitz his St. Bernard dog and continues his comedy routine with Schnorbitz, Lena then joins them. Lena and Bernie then sing "Put on A Happy Face" to Schnorbitz.

Lena and her dance troupe then perform a song and dance routine (Step In Time), Lena then sings "Take that look off your face" after which she introduces The Three Degrees, they performs the song "Starlight". Lena thanks her Guests and ends the show performing a song and dance routine (Trickle Trickle).

Lena and her dances opened the show with a song and dance routine (9 to 5), she then introduces Rod Hull and they perform a comedy sketch around caring for a pet bird, using Emu.

Lena then sing "Someone I used to love" and then performs "It's Only A Paper Moon". The Orchestra perform an instrumental piece, Lena then performs the song "Mississippi Mud" Lena then introduces Lulu whom sings "title unknow" Lena and Lulu sing "Fujiyama Mama" they are join by Rod Hull and Emu near the end of the song. Lena thanks her Guests and ends the show performing a song and dance routine (Don't Stop Me Now).
