Lakeview Academy is a private, nondenominational, college preparatory school in Gainesville, Georgia. Founded in 1970, the student body has grown from a handful of students to a student body of almost 600, from K3 through 12th grade.

The current Head of School is Dr. John P. Kennedy.

Overview

Lakeview Academy is an independent, co-educational, college preparatory day school for grades K3 through twelve located in Gainesville, Georgia and accredited by SAIS-SACS. Established in 1970, the campus includes three separate division buildings, athletic complexes, fine arts annex and a common student center.

Lakeview has families representing thirty countries, and foreign language is taught in every grade. Technology is integrated into each discipline, with sixth through twelfth grade students using their own laptops. All students have a variety of elective opportunities from which to choose, including the school’s award-winning drama and arts programs. Over 75% of Lakeview’s Middle and Upper School students participate in at least one school-sponsored sport, as well as a fine arts activity. While Lakeview’s students are offered the opportunity to excel at a higher level, an academic support program is offered to students at all grade levels when extra help is needed. The class of 2012, with 34 students, was offered $2.38 million in non-HOPE scholarships and had 100% college placement.

Visual Arts - Lakeview offers classes in sculpture and ceramics, computer graphics, painting, photography, graphic arts, mechanical drawing, art history, and internet web page design.
Performing Arts - Lakeview's performing arts programs offers theater classes as well as speech and debate.

Athletics

85% participation in Varsity/JV athletics
Lakeview offers a range of athletic opportunities for students all the way from Lower School to Upper School. A participant in the Georgia High School Association, Lakeview offers 11 Varsity and JV sports teams in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.
