Karel Abraham (born 2 January 1990) is a Czech motorcycle racer. He races in the MotoGP World Championship for the Aspar Racing Team. In 2016, Abraham rode a BMW S1000RR in the Superbike World Championship for Milwaukee BMW.[1]

Prior to this, Abraham competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 2005 to 2015, riding in the 125cc, 250cc, Moto2 and MotoGP classes.[2] Despite criticism of Abraham "buying" his way into MotoGP having never been a front runner in the support classes,[3] Abraham took his first podium at Twin Ring Motegi and then won his first Grand Prix at the 2010 season-ending Valencian Grand Prix.[4]

Career

Abraham was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia.

MotoGP

2011

In 2011, AB Motoracing, the team of Abraham's father, moved up to the MotoGP class for the 2011 season. Abraham finished the season in fourteenth place in the championship; his best results were a pair of seventh-place finishes at Jerez and Silverstone.

2012

Abraham remained with Cardion AB Motoracing for 2012, with the best results 7th at Valencia.

2013

Abraham completed the season in 24th place overall with just 5 points.

2014

Abraham got new adventure with the new Honda RCV1000R and obtained the 17th position in the riders' championship.

2015

Abraham struggled with the Honda RC213V-RS and did not score any points.

Move to Superbike World Championship

It was announced on 21 November 2015 that Abraham would move to the Superbike World Championship for the 2016 season, with Milwaukee BMW, partnering 2015 British Superbike Championship winner Josh Brookes.[1]
