Juan Bautista Vitón (1780-1868) was an Spanish Military, Lieutenant in the Cuerpo de Voluntarios Artilleros de la Unión, Volunteer Corps of Artillery (Buenos Aires).[2]

Biography

Vitón was born in Cádiz, son of Ramón Vitón and María Isabel Santibañez. His father's family was originally from France.[3] He had arrived around the year 1800 to Buenos Aires.[4] In 1806 and 1807, he served as Lieutenant of artillery during the British invasions of the River Plate.[5] After the May Revolution, Vitón was confined to La Rioja Province.[6]

Juan Bautista Vitón was married to Margarita López de Barrios Chiclana, niece of Feliciano Antonio Chiclana.[7]
