Jeffrey Riseley (born 11 November 1986, Dandenong[1]) is an accomplished Australian middle-distance runner.[2] Riseley has competed in numerous prestigious competitions including the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

Career

Riseley was seven when he began to participate in athletics.[3] His family encouraged him as it would enable him to meet other children after the family had moved house.[3]

2007

Jeff Riseley's first major competition was the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, competing in the Men's 800 metres. Riseley performed quite poorly achieving 40th place and a time of 1:48.33. In 2007 Jeff also competed at the Summer Universiade competition.

2008

In 2008 Riseley competed in his first Olympics: the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China. Jeff only competed in the 1500 metres event (not the 800 metres) coming 44th with a time of 3:53.95. This was Riseley's only major competition in 2008.

2009

He won the 2009 Australian title, his first national title, in Brisbane.[3]
