Isaac O. Ogundipe

Engr Isaac O. Ogundipe is an electrical and electronic engineer, engineering consultant, aviator, aviation resource expert, educationist, school administrator and chairman/CEO of Isolog schools, Nigeria.

Early life and history

Engr Isaac O. Ogundipe was born in Isinbode, Ekiti State, Nigeria in 1948. He studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, the University of Ife, and the University of Lagos. He is a COREN Registered Engineer^[1] and a member of Nigerian Society of Engineers.^[2] He was in the employment of Nigerian Federal Ministry of Aviation and later Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

Career

Engr Ogundipe was an Engineer, Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, Asst. Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer, Asst. general manager, Deputy general manager and general manager/ national Head of Electrical & Electronic department of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, the position he held at the time of his retirement. Engr Ogundipe served in these positions in various airports before his transfer to FAAN Headquarters as GM and National Head. He is a seasoned aviator and a versatile resource expert in the aviation field.

While in service of FAAN, Engr Ogundipe attended many aviation and management courses and seminars around the world including courses at USA's Aviation college (FAA) Oklahoma, Seminars at Florida, Finland, Austria, Germany, France, United Kingdom and several other locations in Europe. He served as a member of various inspection teams on standardisation of aviation equipment, installations and services within and outside Nigeria. He was a regular guest lecturer on Airfield lighting system, power generation, power distribution and hv system controls at FAAN's Training School. He is a renown expert in the design, installation and maintenance of Airfield lighting and system controls of all categories and associated visual aids installations including maintenance services. He is widely travelled.

In September 2003, Engr Isaac Ogundipe led a team of junior engineers and technicians in his department to rehabilitate high and medium voltage power supply switchgears in the main power station of the international wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. The Airpot's main power station had got burnt and the Federal Government had hired ABB Ltd for the rehabilitation of the Power System and HV Control at several millions of dollars but Engr Ogundipe insisted that the rehabilitation would be handled in- house at no labour cost. This was done within few days and power was restored and thus saving the country several millions of dollars. The department was adjudged FAAN's best department of the year and Engr Ogundipe the best top Manager of the year.

Similarly it was in FAAN's achievement record that Engr Ogundipe designed (and produced with the assistance of local fabricators) adaptor base fittings for various runway and taxiway lights including the centre-line and edge light fittings at cheaper cost compared with the imported ones. The use of locally made taxiway edge reflectors were also introduced to the airfield lighting installations by Engr Ogundipe. The innovations were widely acknowledged by the Aviation Industry, including ICAO.

Isolog Group of Schools

On retirement from government service, Engr Isaac Ogundipe joined the family business that operates a group of secondary and primary schools both in Lagos and Ogun States of Nigeria. On resumption, he became the chairman and chief executive officer of the group. This is based on his experience as a seasoned administrator as well as the various experiences he had in teaching and as a resource person in various training programmes and summit meetings within and outside Nigeria. He was once a lecturer of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the polytechnic Ibadan and a mathematics teacher at the University of Ibadan Extramural centre, Ikeja Lagos.

The founding of Isolog Group of Schools.

Isolog group of Schools started with Isolog Computers which was founded in 1998. In September 1999, the first regular School was founded – Isolog College Ojodu. The College started at 5/7 Adegoke Ajayi Street, off Saabo, Ojodu and a Nursery/Primary School was later added to it at 1/3 Morgan Street, Ojodu to cater for primary education. The group later expanded with two new sites; one at Temidire Estate along Alagbole-Akute road – The Isolog College Campus, Akute; located at 25/27 Aranse Oluwa Street, Temidire Estate, Akute. Shortly after that, a primary school wing was also added – Isolog Junior (Primary) School, 93/95 Ojodu - Akute road, Ajayi farm Bus stop, Akute. The two colleges are co – educational institutions that offer full complement of courses in science, arts and commercial subjects, both at SSCE/OL and A/L. The colleges admit students for both day and boarding. A/L, O/L and IGCSE (University of Cambridge programmes) are offered at Isolog Schools for students who desire direct admission into Nigerian, British, European and American Universities. Isolog college campus, Akute is a British Council Accredited Centre for the University of Cambridge IGCSE moderated examinations.

10th anniversary of Isolog Group of Schools

In 2009, Isolog Group of Schools celebrated its 10th anniversary.^[3] It was a week-long celebration at Isolog Junior School, Akute, Ogun State. Throughout the week, there were activities everywhere as parents and well-wishers joined teachers, students and pupils to celebrate the 10th year anniversary. During the week, many activities featured among which were:- an elaborate rally, well attended public lectures, cultural displays, football matches, dramas, inter-school debates and many others. On Saturday of the week, there was long-service/prize-giving award followed by a Thanksgiving Service on the following Sunday at Isolog College Campus, Akute to round off the anniversary. For the proprietors, Engr and Mrs Ogundipe, the celebration was a testimony of a vision well accomplished.^[4]

Family life

Engr. Ogundipe is happily married to Rachael Adejoke Ogundipe (Nee Obayemi) and they have four children – Dr. Olawale Jnr (USA), Engr Olubukola (UK), Ayodeji (ICT Expert) (UK) and Oyindamola (Financial Magt Consultant) (UK).
