Indian Institute of Information Technology, Manipur (IIIT Manipur) is an Indian Institute of Information Technology that will be permanently located in the Senapati district of Manipur.[1] However, classes have commenced from July 2015 at a temporary campus in Mantripukhri, Imphal.[2]It is among the 20 IIIT’s proposed under Non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model by Ministry of Human Resource Development (India).[3] IIITM is an academic and research Institute fully funded by Government of India,[4] Government of Manipur and Industry partners.[5] The temporary campus has a newly setup CSE and ECE lab, and setup for other labs such as HPC labs are in process. The institute has its own full time faculties with PhDs and research experience from reputed institutes in India and abroad. The library has textbooks and few reference books needed for current semester. The total strength of students stand at roughly 70 students in total for 2015 and 2016 batches.

Academics

IIIT Manipur offers undergraduate programmes, namely, BTech in CSE and ECE. It has five departments: CSE, ECE, Mathematics, Physics, and HSS. It is also mandated to start Design and Manufacturing disciplines to positively contribute to Govt. of India mission of Act East policy and to create manufacturing hub in South East Asia.In the coming years, it is planned to initiate MTech and PhD programmes.

Admissions

Admission to IIIT Manipur will be purely on the basis of the All-India JEE (Main) examination administered by CBSE and the seat allocation will be through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA 2016). For 2016, candidates were required to qualify through JEE (Main) 2016, and students aspiring to join IIIT Manipur had to apply through JoSAA 2016.

Student life

With a combined strength of roughly 70 students, the student life is gaining momentum. For the moment, there are two boys hostel, and one girls hostel.

Sports

The sports facilities consists of a football/cricket field, a volleyball field, two table tennis, and two carrom boards. The necessary equipments can be borrowed by the students of the institute.

Clubs

There is a movie club that screens movies every month except during exams.

Other Events

From September 29 to 3rd October 2016, students have been participating in SPIRIT, a regional sports competition hosted by IIT, Guwahati.
