Hadley Corner is a one-story shopping center[2] in Hadley, Massachusetts, United States, with 9 stores planned. It is located on Route 9, on Russell Street in Hadley, Massachusetts between Amherst and Northampton, approximately five miles east of Exit 19 off I-91 and across the street from the Mountain Farms Mall.
History
The Hadley Corner location was previously a floral store with a large greenhouse, but that had been defunct for many years. The shopping center was developed by New England Retail Properties Inc..
Controversy
Several local pressure groups paint this facility as being a cause of concern with land loss, excessive traffic and an insufficient water supply.[3][4] Other residents support the development as it enables customers to obtain lower prices and allows the convenience of large stores that otherwise would have required long trips to Springfield. They also point to the areas growing population as needing new stores and a plan by the state of Massachusetts to complete the widening of Route 9 from Northampton to the Amherst border as a solution to traffic jams.[5]

- Aldi (the supermarket chain) purchased a 2-acre (8,100 m2) land parcel for $1.55 million for a new store. Construction commenced in the summer of 2010. The store opened on January 23, 2011.[9]

On Tuesday, the board approved a Taco Bell restaurant for the southeast corner of the new Home Depot parcel.

In addition to smaller commercial office and retail spaces, several big-box stores and national chains continued to develop properties in the area during the past year - projects that had been in the works for some time. Among them are new Lowe's home improvement store and Taco Bell in Hadley, a Walgreens, Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken in Northampton, among others.
