Geisha (formerly Jingga) is an Indonesian group formed on 2003 in Pekanbaru, Riau. The band's current line up of Narova Morina Sinaga (Momo), Roby Satria (Roby), Ashari Aulia (Nard), Ahmad Rasyid (Aan) and Rahmad Ramadhan (Dhan). The group were garnered fame with single "Jika Cinta Dia" and "Takkan Pernah Ada".
History
Formation and early career
The band was formed in 2003 in Pekanbaru, Riau. At first, previous the name of group is Jingga. The band had releasing several indie singles, such as "Untuk Selamanya", "Sya La La", "Cinta Lama Bersemi Kembali" and "Cintaku Hilang". The drummer Febri was departure from the group for continues his study. After that, Jingga decided changed name to be Geisha.
2009–2012: Anugerah Terindah and Meraih Bintang
Musica Studios signed Geisha in 2009 and releasing their debut studio albums titled Anugerah Terindah on September 18. Their debut single "Jika Cinta Dia" was released and manage entered to Top 25 Selling Song in 2010, which position #3, "Takkan Pernah Ada" (#6), "Selalu Salah" (#13) and "Kamu Yang Pertama" (#24). In late 2010, the debut album also entered third of Best Selling Album 2010. In addition of their success, the band manage earning a Best of the Best Newcomer award at the Anugerah Musik Indonesia.
Geisha' second studio albums Meraih Bintang was released and returning achieve success, like the debut album. Single "Cinta Dan Benci" manage entering to Top 25 Selling Song in 2011, position #2 behind Ayu Ting Ting' "Alamat Palsu". In 2012, the group returning releasing the single "Tuhanku".
2013–2015: Seleksi Hits and Bersinar Terang
The group returning releasing first compilation album Seleksi Hits (2013), after two years unreleased. The single "Lumpuhkan Ingatanku" was success making to record for most watched music video in YouTube, which was watched on more 25 million viewers.[1] Rolling Stone Indonesia was awarding to the band for Hit of the Year in 2014, due to success of the single across Indonesia and also manage winning four awards at the 17th Annual Anugerah Musik Indonesia, including Best of the Best Production Work. The band winning award for Favorite Band at the 2014 Nickelodeon Indonesia Kids' Choice Awards. One year later, their fourth studio album Bersinar Terang was released and first single "Kamu Jahat" as opening single.
In 2015, Geisha launching the single "Sementara Sendiri", which was became to original soundtrack for Single. Still same year, the band releasing the recycle single "Seandainya Aku Punya Sayap", which popularized by Indonesian songwriter Rinto Harahap. The single was entered to compilation album, entitled Kami Mengenang Rinto Harahap with Noah, D'Masiv and Nidji.[2]
