Frank James "Bronco" Burton (1891–1967) born in Mexico, was a football player who played as defender for West Ham United and Charlton Athletic in the Football League, as well as Queens Park Rangers and Grays Thurrock.
His career was interrupted by WW1 when he served in the Royal Fusiliers, including the Sportsman's Battalion, where he got several injuries fighting in Ypres, the Somme and Cambrai. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.[1] Despite this, he turned out for West Ham in 40 games during the war period.[2]
He gained medals for London Football Association Professional Charity Fund Cup when at West Ham. Runner up in 1920–21 and winner 1921–22.[3]
In 1927 he became head coach of Real Oviedo in Asturia, Spain.[4]
There is a street named after him near to The Valley where he played for Charlton – Frank Burton Close, in Charlton, London.
