Flybridge Capital Partners is a venture capital firm with offices in Boston and New York City focused on seed and early-stage investments. It invests in seed and early-stage technology companies.

Flybridge’s general partners are David Aronoff, Jeff Bussgang, Chip Hazard and Jesse Middleton.^{[1] [2]}

History

The firm was founded in 2001 as IDG Ventures Atlantic with a $100 million first fund, which was funded by IT media firm International Data Group (IDG). It raised a $180 million second fund in 2005, including investors outside of IDG. In 2008, the firm closed a third $280 million fund and renamed itself Flybridge Capital Partners.^[3] The firm is typically the first institutional investor in the companies it backs, and focuses on capital efficient seed and early-stage companies seeking capital to fuel growth and expand operations.

The firm raised four venture capital funds with combined investor commitments of over $560 million.

Flybridge Capital Partners has invested in more than 85 companies to date including: Bettercloud, BitSight, Brontes Technologies (acquired by 3M), BzzAgent (acquired by Tesco), Cartera Commerce, CHiL Semiconductor (acquired by International Rectifier), Codecademy, Crashlytics (acquired by Twitter), DataXu, Digital Lumens, Firebase (acquired by Google), Jibo, MongoDB, Nasuni, Open English, Reveal Imaging (acquired by Science Applications International Corporation), Stackdriver (acquired by Google), Transpera (acquired by Tremor Video), Valore, ZestFinance, and ZING (acquired by Dell).

Flybridge focuses on sectors such as: consumer infrastructure, tech-enabled business services, enterprise IT, and mobile things.

Stay in MA

In January 2009, Flybridge Capital Partners announced a student scholarship program for Massachusetts college students to foster entrepreneurship and innovation between students and the local business community.^[6] Stay in MA provides financial assistance to students interested in joining or attending the events of technology and business organizations in the region.
