Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan (Punjabi, Urdu: فردوس عاشق اعوان‎) (born 11 January 1970) is a Pakistani physician and politician who served as a Minister of Information and Broadcasting between 2011 and 2013, and the MP from Sialkot from 2002 till 2013.[1][2][3]

Political career

She was elected first time in 2002 on the seat of National Assembly and succeeded in the party PML (Q). In 2008, she was elected again by joining Pakistan People's Party on the seat of National Assembly and was successful.[4] She was in the office of Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services.

She presented her resignation to Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani on 25 December 2011 during the Special Federal Cabinet Meeting. It was later declined by the Prime Minister after holding a one-to-one meeting with Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan.[5]

April 18, 2012 Qamar Zaman Kaira was appointed as the new Minister for Information and Broadcasting, while former Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan is reassigned the Ministry of National Regulations and Services.[6]
