F-Day: The Second Dawn Of Man is a Political drama written by Irish author and social activist Colin R. Turner, originally published in July 2016.

The story revolves around a running countdown to 'F-Day' (Freedom Day), when world governments devolve the Market system in favour of an Open economy without money, trade or borders.[1][2]

Plot summary

The principle character, Karl Drayton, is a young, disillusioned business man who, despite his success, feels that something is not right with the world. One day he decides to sell his business, turn his back on his life and embark on a personal journey to find answers.[3]

He eventually arrives at the belief that money and the market system are responsible for the majority of society's problems. He decides to create a movement to advocate an alternative world which doesn't use money, based instead on cooperation and compassion.[4]

The movement becomes globally popular and propels Drayton into mainstream media where he often finds himself the subject of ridicule. When asked by a reporter how a moneyless world could come about, he mentions that it could happen in one country first, suggesting Iceland as a good candidate.[5]

The mention of Iceland and the apparent interest shown by Iceland's President Baldur Reyksson, precipitates an economic crisis in Iceland due to ditching of Icelandic Króna on world markets. President Reyksson is faced with a choice of agreeing to a rescue package from the European Union, or convincing Icelanders to adopt Drayton's open economy system.[6]

As Icelanders struggle with their new 'OE' (Open Economy) system, the United States comes to their aid with a rescue package, a move that threatens to destroy the career of US President Jean Carley.[7]

As the F-Day countdown continues, more countries begin to adopt Iceland's system, but Drayton's movement is the subject of attacks from unknown quarters, threatening him, his family and his associates. He must face the decision of stopping his work to protect his family, or meet his unknown aggressors face to face.[8]
