Energy consumption measurement
Energy consumption measurement is done in varying units.
In List of countries by energy consumption per capita, the data is given in kilogrammes of oil equivalent per year [kgoe/a], and gigajoules per year, and in watts, as average equivalent power.
- 1000 kgoe = 42 GJ
- W per capita (1 GJ/a = 31.7 W) (multiply by 8.766 to get kWh/year)
Megawatt hours per year can be written as Watt:
- 1 MW·h/yr = 1 000 kWh/yr = 1 000 000 Wh/(365.25·24)h = 114.077116 Watt
